Women Farmers, their Problems, Issues are aloof...

In Conversation with Food Activist Kavitha Kuruganti

On the occasion of National Youth Day, Kartavya Sadhana is publishing an audio series titled “In Conversation with.....” The series is comprised of three interviews - Priyanka Mohite (Sports), Deepa Pawar (Social) and Kavita Kuruganti (Agriculture). They are working in their field for a long time. Their lives, work, and their life choices have a lot to inspire young people of society.

In this insightful conversation with Kavitha Kuruganti, we tried to understand her life journey, her area of work i.e. agriculture. Kavitha witnessed an entire farmer protest at the Singhu border. We touched upon contemporary issues of farmers. How she looks at agriculture and youth! Kavitha is a food activist, a Founder Convenor of the Alliance for Sustainable & Holistic Agriculture (ASHA), which played a huge role in ripping off the Pepsico rights over the FC5 potato variety. She has dedicated her life to ensure sustainable farm livelihoods and farmers' rights.

National Youth Day is commemorated in the honour of a great philosopher and monk Swami Vivekananda. In 1985, the Government of India declared Swami Vivekananda's birthday – January 12 - National Youth Day. The day is marked to celebrate his life and teachings that have encouraged millions across the world. On the backdrop of National Youth Day, we are publishing comprehensive interviews of people who can be an inspiration for youth.
